Spyro and His Colon

Well Spyro may not be as popular as he used to be but he still managed to become an example for Tom Bramwell at Eurogamer about (among other things), the over usage of colons in game titles.

check it out.

Spyro is NOT just for girls!

Well, this may be an old ad, but it's still disturbing all the same. GameStop apparently had a scheme to try to sell girl games. With a gaudy cardboard set up they put out the most 'girly' games they had.

Bratz, Hannah Montanna, Little Mermaid and...Spyro! What? Spyro may be purple but he isn't girly, in fact his latest games feel more like God of War (which is far from 'girly').

Let your voice be heard about how stereotypical this is to female gamers and how disgraceful this is to Spyro!

1up says getting Spyro the Dragon on PSN is worth it!

Quote:
Well, if Sony's only going to release classic downloads a few times each year, at least they're picking good games. Spyro was one of Insomniac's first games (and is presumably up for download to remind everyone that, hey! Buy Ratchet & Clank!) and was the PlayStation's first genuine contender against Mario 64. It still looks really nice and controls well, and despite some flaws common to the era -- like being expected to track down way too many random doodads -- it's so much better than the modern, non-Insomniac-developed Spyro games that it's worth playing simply as a reminder of how wrong a promising series can go in the hands of uncaring management.

While they may not speak kindly of the newer games, any positivity concerning Spyro is a good thing!

Good news for Spyro?

Quote:
Krome Studios has announced that Konami’s former vice president of product development Kurt Busch is to head up its Melbourne Studio, the outfit that was formerly known as Melbourne House and owned by Atari.

Could someone from Konami have a good impact on the next Spyro? Time will tell.

To be a mascot or not to be a mascot...

There was a time when Spyro could have been Sony's mascot (like Mario is to Nintendo or Master Chief to Microsoft.) Where would Spyro be now if he was the mascot, and who was he up against?

Some brief history here

GBA Spyro rakes in another 9/10

Quote:
Since you probably never thought you would see me bother to review a
Spyro game, let me cut to the point — Legend of Spyro: Eternal Night on
the Gameboy Advance ROCKS. I can honestly say that this game can easily be put in the same league as Metroid Fusion, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, and Astro Boy: Omega Factor as the best action games on the Gameboy Advance and put up a phenomenal fight.

My favorite part? The purple gameboy advance micro.

Spyro can't get no respect...no repsect at all...

Quote:
The Eternal Night fails to validate itself beyond the slew of other cookie-cutter action platformers out there. While they may not all be on the Wii, the lack of compelling titles surely doesn't make this one any better. Unless you're a Spyro junkie, we feel you'd be better off avoiding this game.

5.5/10

Well, that's what Wii Fanboy had to say about the latest Spyro game (the Wii version). It seems that no matter how hard he tries Spyro just can't please the majority of critics this time.

IGN gives PS2 TEN a 3.5, shocks the world!

Wow, I never could have seen this coming! IGN is usually a trusted source. What happened with TEN?! A 3.5! By that rating TEN is worse than Enter the Dragonfly! How could this be worst than ETD? How could this be worst than most PS2 games!? This is absolutely NOT what we expected, after a 7.7 for ANB (although a different reviewer) How could this drop 4.2 points!? That's purely irrational! We can't believe it and we're speechless! If you enjoy being speechless then read on here.

I just wish they did second reviews, I'd like to see what Mark Bozon who reviewed the PS2 version of A New Beginning has to say. I'm also waiting to see how it compares to the Wii version. Even more shocking is that this got a worse rating than the glitchy DS version. That all has to be saying something about Sam Bishop who reviewed the game: he was drunk, hung over, or hates Spyro and therefore never played the game. I refuse to believe he gave the game a fair chance because I'm sure most reviewers who've played both TEN and ETD could see TEN is better, but Mr. Bishop obviously can't.

Sorry for the unprofessional rant inside a news post but I'm sure any Spyro fan agrees. Even Spyro haters have to be able to see how illogical this review was! GAH! *anger*

Thursday Update to PlayStation Store Includes Spyro

Spyro the Dragon, the game that is, is now on the PlayStation Store.

Added yesterday here in the States, it's selling for $5.99. The flie size is 341 MB. It can be bought and downloaded to the PS3 / PSP.

For that price, it's a steal... if you've never had a chance to play it before.
