Thursday Update to PlayStation Store Includes Spyro

Spyro the Dragon, the game that is, is now on the PlayStation Store.

Added yesterday here in the States, it's selling for $5.99. The flie size is 341 MB. It can be bought and downloaded to the PS3 / PSP.

For that price, it's a steal... if you've never had a chance to play it before.

The Fantastic Spyro: Rise to the Silver Screen

You can imagine the surprise Spyro fans got this morning when Variety announced that Spyro will possibly be headed to theaters.

Quote:
Spyro the Dragon could soon breathe some fire on the bigscreen: The Animation Picture Co. has optioned the rights to turn the purple star of Sierra Entertainment and Vivendi Game's vidgame franchise into a toon.

Wow, never saw that one coming! Unfortunately however, the people behind it so far sound somewhat questionable. The scriptwriter, Steve and Dan Altiere, wrote Doctor Doolittle 4 (which isn't out yet.).

The company behind the Spyro movie have only done two other films: Garfield Gets Real, which the original creator of Garfield helped with, and Garfield's Fun Fest.

We'll have to wait and see. For now read the rest here

For more on Dr. Dolittle 4, visit the page here at IMDb.

Eek! Daily Orange gives PS2 TEN a 1 out of 5

The Daily Orange is an independent student newspaper of Syracuse, New York...that's probably why you never heard of it, and after this short review that pans Eternal Night, you'll probably never want to hear of them again.

For the short, review read here ...if you can bear it.

...and now for something else...

Every once in awhile you come across something and have to ask yourself "is this newsworthy?" Even if your better judgment says it's not you still feel a strange obligation to post it. Thus is the case with the character battle at Monster Gamer. Battle B, Round 17 was Spyro vs. Luigi. Only 9 people voted but the results came to Spyro receiving 2 votes or 22.22% versus Luigi with 7 votes or 77.78%

What is so appealing about this mustachioed, green shirted plumber, anyways? We all know he's just a palette swap for that one guy!

4 color rebellion gives Eternal Night on GBA a 9/10

Quote:
While one could argue the validity of the term “Metroidvania,” it does do a fair job of describing a certain subset of the 2D platformer genre. The term also carries certain expectations –- a certain amount of exploration, deep and challenging combat, and a wide variety of gameplay options. The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night not only meets these criteria, it is a legitimately great game.

Play magazine gives Wii version of TEN 8.5/10

Here's a snippet:

"What Insomniac began, Krome have now made completely their own, taking Spyro from a lighthearted adventure to a hardcore dark platformer." [Nov 2007, p.56]

8.5 ... That's the same score the XBox, PS2 and GameCube versions of ANB was given by them. As with Game Informer I don't have a subscription and the review isn't online yet so if anyone could send it that'd be great. Dave Halverson, the reviewer, usually gives 8s to platformer type games. So Spyro did a little better than average.

Here is the magazines cover, for anyone who might want to pick it up for the full review:

In the interest of comparison here are the other Play Magazine Wii scores for this month:

Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure - 8
Bleach: Shattered Blade - 8
Crash of the Titans - 8
Need for Speed ProStreet - 6
