Playstation 2 Magazine UK(Official Playstation Magazine UK) rated TEN a 6 in its December issue. Since it's a magazine so I only have tgat quote and no scan. It's British so I won't be able to get one. I Wonder what their issues were.
As always if you can send a scan that'd be great!
You can find it in the December 2007 issue, p.86.
GamerKids chatted recently with Don Meadows from Krome Studios. Meadows is the Producer of The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. Meadows discusses a few of the differences players will find in TEN, the enemies in the game and the new breath abilities for Spyro.

The review listed on the Game Informer site under the Wii version is word-for-word with the PS2 review. No, it's not a mistake... they scored the Wii version the same based off the PS2 version. They just copied and pasted the review from the PS2 version. That further proves why they shouldn't be critics (there are many other reasons why in my biased opinion). The Wii version has slightly improved textures (as it's graphics engine is higher than the PS2's) and the control with the Wii remote is more responsive and smooth (not to mention more fun). It also allows play with the classic controller. It's not the exact same game yet they copied the review. There's much to be angry about.
I found the copy of Game Informer on the store shelf and checked it myself, the November Issue has the same review as the October issue that reviewed the PS2 iteration. I can't believe they'd just pass on the same score. Okami is a PS2 platformer type game that is being ported to Wii. Virtually nothing will change, the developers themselves said the only change will be the controls. Sounds like TEN, but I bet they will do a whole new review, maybe even with a different reviewer. They just didn't see Spyro as worth there time so they shoveled the same score over. I can't imagine what would happen if someone like IGN did that...assumed that the version of let's say a Sonic game for the PS3 was the same on the Wii and rated them the same. They'd get tons of flak for it. I'm very perturbed by this. I don't care if it's Halo or Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary a game is a game and I know they can argue they only have so much time for each one but to shovel over a score across platforms is inexcusable. In case any of you missed it last time this is how the review looked:
How unprofessional.
| Quote: | | This looks a bit lightweight when you think it's this or "Galaxy" for the same price, but it's a decent addition to Sypro's post-PlayStation gameography. |
They seemed very positive in the review. As it's a magazine my link is to a page scan.
Scan of the review.
Thanks go to Rexy from Sierra Spyro forums for the scan!
If you can't read the scan, check out a type-up of the review at Games Radar here.
Ace Gamez has scored the GameBoy Advance version of Eternal Night a 9 out of 10! It seems as if the hand held iteration for the GBA has seen quite a boost from being the worst rated version out of all the ANB ports to now being the best rated version of all the TEN adaptations.
| Quote: | | The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night is a gift that keeps giving until completion. Just when the Game Boy Advance was finally starting to look dead, a classic game that takes an equally classic genre and mixes it with modern day influence comes along and blows us away. It's a shame that so many people are going to miss this because of the simple fact that it's Spyro, but please don't let this deter you. This is quite simply one of the best combat engines you will find in a game and if you're an old-school gamer then you really can't afford to pass this up. Amaze Entertainment have done exactly what their name suggests and I can't wait to see what they come up with next, Spyro or otherwise. |
Sounds like people just can't praise it enough. Here's the rest of what they had to say.
Spyro the Dragon (2009)
There it is....there's something that could allow us to call the film official. Although IMDb has posted credits erroneously in the past it's a rare occasion a page is created for a film that won't come to fruition. IMdb is the Internet Movie Data base and also one of my most trusted sources for information on movies from the past, present and future. It's far more accurate than sites such as Wikipedia or some movie blog. However, I never doubted the existence of the Spyro film.
The page has nothing new for us. It still lists the writers as Daniel and Steven Altiere, still purports there is no director and still says the Animation Picture Company is behind it. Do our purple draconian hero a favor and check out the page, maybe even post in the message board, he deserves some hype, don't you think?
| Quote: | | In the end, Spyro: The Eternal Night is a bit short, and the GBA platform is showing its age, but the game is available at a budget price. Spyro fans (I know you're out there) shouldn't hesitate to pick the game up. Additionally, the game would be good for younger action-gamers, as the easy mode is well thought out; enemies have less endurance and punch, and even fewer techniques. Adult fans and students of the action-adventure should take a look, but they won't find the game interesting for very long. |

Cubed 3 had this to say about the game:
| Quote: | | Amaze Entertainment’s attempt at recreating the 3D Spyro games of yore on a handheld system is commendable, but unfortunately the final result leaves a lot to be desired. Whilst the game’s core platforming sections show real promise, the repetitive combat, frustrating boss battles, linear level design, game-killing glitches and distinctly short playtime all let the side down. The Eternal Night feels like a game that was pulled out of development a few months too early, and as such we just can’t recommend it. You might want to try the GBA version instead. |

| Quote: | In the end, The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night is much more fun than most of the GBA games that have hit the platform in the last while. It's not that long of a game, taking us only about 8 hours to complete, but it hardly feels like a shift in the salt mines. In fact, it feels more like a sick day, where you just lie in bed and watch movies all day. Except that these aren't crappy movies on TV, riddled with commercials, but rather a careful selection of your most treasured films.
If you're as sad to see the GBA go as we are, then pay homage to it by giving its last great title a try. You won't be disappointed. |

| Quote: | Pros:
* Elijah Wood and Gary Oldman voice Spyro and his mentor, respectively. Imagining Frodo and Jack Grimaldi as dragons is a bizarre bit of fun.
* Fun combat throughout.
* Well designed environments may guide you by the nose, but they remain fun to explore.
* Collectibles are hidden perfectly so players can find everything with a bit of judicious exploring.
* Solid storyline that keeps players guessing on where it will lead next.
Cons:
* Use of bullet time Dragon Time is an odd choice for a dragon-based fantasy title like this.
* Run, jump, fight, jump some more. Not a whole lot else to do in this.
* Levels sometimes look huge but are actually very claustrophobic.
* Story is vastly overwritten with characters rattling off lengthy exposition long after their point is made.
* Difficulty level isn’t for kids because they will easily get frustrated and throw your controllers. |
They gave it an 84% out of 100.
