You've got mail! The recent newsletter circulated by Sierra is a wish list ready and waiting for you to inform your family of everything you want for Christmas. The only issue? It has the top two slots completed for you. Why's that an issue? It isn't. The issue is the order...Crash is number one whereas Spyro is placed at number two. This is conspiracy by Sierra!
This is horrible! I'm going to go weep now...
If you feel you must print this out and use it, find the larger version here. Make sure you buy some white out to correct Sierra's mistake in that ordering.
Snackbar Games' review for Wii TEN wasn't shy on mincing meat.

Eternal Night's gameplay is repetitive, its story is unimaginative, and its graphics are decidedly from the previous console generation. If you're hurting for a Wii platformer and can't find Super Mario Galaxy then The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night will get the job done, but there are better games out there, and you should be playing those instead.
Review site Game Vortex has given the PS2 iteration of Eternal Night an 89%! An 8.9 out of 10 is the highest score the game has gotten to date!

I've got to say, I miss the platformer Spyro. I liked following gem trails, paying Money Bags for information and searching for every little hidden thing. But, I do also like the action game that Spyro has become. The details and storylines are much more in depth and interesting, and the cut scenes are great to watch. If you liked A New Beginning, you'll love Eternal Night. It's not like the original Spyro anymore, but it's an acceptable change.
Obviously reviewer Cyn enjoyed the game! The only thing to be mad about now is that she gave Crash of the Titans a 9, making Crash better than Spyro!...only joking, of course!
The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night just doesn’t seem to work for the DS. It just looks and plays bad, fact. I’d really suggest checking out a console version of it instead. It’s bound to look a billion times better than this one.
VG Reloaded gave Eternal Night for the DS 2 out of 5 stars for an adjusted rating of 4 out of 10. That's pretty low, but I think it has already been determined that the DS version is inferior to it's console and GBA brethren.
Today I decided to post two neat Spyro videos. The first is a very cool advertisement for the mobile version of TEN. Not even the ads for the console version were this fancy!
I want that horned Spyro-themed cell phone! The ad can be seen here in higher quality, but I'm not able to embed it.
The second video for today is a recently discovered cheat code. Even though Spyro: Year of the Dragon came out way back in 2000, this cheat code was only just discovered. It allows you to scroll through characters and listen to everything they said. It only allows you to listen to the lines of the characters from whatever level/hub you're currently in. It's interesting how this managed to evade discovery for over seven years!
To do this, first go to the menu. Then type in square, square, circle, circle, square, square, circle, circle. The following will appear: "Type: 0 Msg: 0". Pressing up begins to scroll through lines. The type number corresponds to the character, the message number corresponds to which line. You can only press up to change the message, not type, so you have to scroll through all of one character's lines before reaching the next character. To exit you must re-enter the code. The level's original music will be switched to whatever line you left it at. This will loop repeatedly until you enter another level, hub or area.
This was found by YouTuber PoloDewen, who has several other neat Spyro videos, most of them are hacks, however, but still worth checking out!
Game Fan Fanatic has a deal running right now for a Polar White Nintendo DS Lite bundled with The Legend Of Spyro: A New Beginning. It comes to $179.95. Considering the DS is about $130 now and the game is $30, you wouldn't necessarily be saving money. All you might be saving hear is a trip and the possibility of not finding DS ANB (I've actually been unable to find it at any of my local game stores).
With Christmas hurriedly approaching this "deal" may interest you. Click herefor the product page.
Gameplayer has posted their review for PS2 TEN. They gave it a 5 out of 10.

There’s a bunch of reasons that stand against The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night and few that stand for it. It’s bland, it’s boring, and the constant half-armed combat demonstrates how lost this series is. Ignore it with extreme prejudice.
Harsh! Poor little Spyro, when your not busy being cute and purple you're being battered by unfavorable reviews. When will the madness stop?
As you might know - or would liked to know - the first Spyro game, Spyro the Dragon, is now available on the PSN store. This means you can purchase it and play it on your PS3 or PSP. IGN reviewed the game giving it a 7 out of 10. After nearly a decade, a 7 isn't too shabby. It seems Spyro can still hold is own (at least the old titles can).

Spyro the Dragon hasn't aged perfectly, but it still feels solid and runs well. If you can work past a few of the camera and repetition issues (and the lacking, borderline nonsensical story), you'll have fun with Spyro and perhaps understand why it was considered such a phenomenal title all those years ago. However, with such fantastic platformers on the market today, be weary of the game's rusted mechanics -- they may come as a shock to you after playing today's highly refined games.
VideoGamer his given the PS2 version of TEN a 5 out of 10.

I guess what I'm basically saying then, is that for me, this new 're-imagining' of Spyro the Dragon simply doesn't cut it. No doubt I'm not exactly the intended audience for this (although for the record, I'm quite a fan of dragons, and as I already mentioned, I liked the original Spyro title) as I've a suspicion this will be marketed towards the younger end of the gaming market, but that's no excuse: I've said it before and I'll say it again: just because they're young, it doesn't mean that kids like - or will put up with - sub-par games!
It seems as if these reviews are becoming increasingly similar - all in the 5 to 6 score range.
