Gameplayer has posted their review for PS2 TEN. They gave it a 5 out of 10.
| Quote: | | There’s a bunch of reasons that stand against The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night and few that stand for it. It’s bland, it’s boring, and the constant half-armed combat demonstrates how lost this series is. Ignore it with extreme prejudice. |
Harsh! Poor little Spyro, when your not busy being cute and purple you're being battered by unfavorable reviews. When will the madness stop?

As you might know - or would liked to know - the first Spyro game, Spyro the Dragon, is now available on the PSN store. This means you can purchase it and play it on your PS3 or PSP. IGN reviewed the game giving it a 7 out of 10. After nearly a decade, a 7 isn't too shabby. It seems Spyro can still hold is own (at least the old titles can).
| Quote: | | Spyro the Dragon hasn't aged perfectly, but it still feels solid and runs well. If you can work past a few of the camera and repetition issues (and the lacking, borderline nonsensical story), you'll have fun with Spyro and perhaps understand why it was considered such a phenomenal title all those years ago. However, with such fantastic platformers on the market today, be weary of the game's rusted mechanics -- they may come as a shock to you after playing today's highly refined games. |

VideoGamer his given the PS2 version of TEN a 5 out of 10.
| Quote: | | I guess what I'm basically saying then, is that for me, this new 're-imagining' of Spyro the Dragon simply doesn't cut it. No doubt I'm not exactly the intended audience for this (although for the record, I'm quite a fan of dragons, and as I already mentioned, I liked the original Spyro title) as I've a suspicion this will be marketed towards the younger end of the gaming market, but that's no excuse: I've said it before and I'll say it again: just because they're young, it doesn't mean that kids like - or will put up with - sub-par games! |
It seems as if these reviews are becoming increasingly similar - all in the 5 to 6 score range.

Spyro Universe, the Spyro news/encyclopedia site has been updated! Last time I checked, it hadn't been updated since April 2006 with a story about how Spyro was going to be used in a new game console to improve the functionality of kid's brains. Now Mozepy (the site's webmaster) updated with his feelings on TLoS and a new YotD cheat code. Worth checking out.

The Press one of New Zealand's nine official newspapers has reviewed Eternal Night for the PS2. However, it appeared as if there was no score for the review.
| Quote: | | There's really not much wrong with Spyro. It's an inoffensive game that won't take long to complete, which is what youngsters want. An enjoyable, but average, platformer that the children will enjoy. |
Here's the rest of the review by Gerard Campbell, chief video game reviewer for The Press.
Despite not appearing above, it seems as though there was a score to acommpany that review. The game review aggregator at Military.com (odd place to aggregate) claims that this game got 3 out of 4 stars or a 7.5 out of 10 rating.
See for yourself.
This was originally in a newspaper and was then sent to media site 'Stuff.co.nz'. Maybe the score didn't get uploaded or something.
It seems that this Military Games site gives star scores to all the 'Stuff' video game reviews. Strange, but maybe I just missed something on the 'Stuff' site.
Activision and Vivendi Games have signed to merge with the new company name Activision Blizzard. What's this mean for Spyro? It should mean very little. As Vivendi was only ever publisher they had small influence on the development of Spyro games. Sometimes they have some say, such as when they told Digital Eclipse to "dumb down" Attack of the Rhynocs for GBA. Most of the time, however, the developer is left alone. Krome should be able to finish TLoS 3 with no change in plans. Future Spyro games could be affected. With increased yearly revenue more of that money could go to Spyro for development, or maybe a different developer not previously available to Vivendi will now be able to make Spyro. Who knows, we can only wait and see.

British video game site Tiscali Games has reviewed Spyro's Eternal Night outing for PS2. They gave it a 7 out of 10.
| Quote: | | Fans of fire-breathers can breath their own sigh of relief. True to its roots, the latest Spyro title brings the purple, winged hero back to its cutely addictive basics. |

VideoEzy, an Australian movie rental store chain similar to our Blockbuster has reviewed the PS2 iteration of Eternal Night for its page on their website
| Quote: | | The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night is a frustrating experience and is going to have trouble with his 12 and under target demographic; the game is redered just a bit too difficult by its control scheme. This is really its biggest problem as the reason the franchise became popular in the first place was its easy controls and accessibility. Still, The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night is a decent platformer for the PS2. |
Overall they gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

Salt Lake City newspaper Deseret Morning News published a list of must-buy games for presumably the 2007 Christmas shopping season. Among many familiar names was Spyro.
| Quote: | | Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night (DS, PS2, Wii; Sierra) If you remember fondly the early adventures of Spyro, you're in for a treat. Our little dragon's gaming capability is all grown up, with new attacks, the ability to bend time whenever he wants and some pretty sophisticated moves. He's as endearing as ever, but a lot more versatile and just plain fun. This one's not just for the little folk any more. We loved it. |

Game Zone Online has given the GameBoy Advance version of TEN an 8.6.
| Quote: | | Spyro: Eternal Night is an amazing platformer with some of the deepest, most enjoyable combat you’ll find on any system, let alone the Game Boy Advance. I can’t think of a more fitting send-off for Nintendo’s great handheld system than this. Don’t skip it just because you think it’s a “kid’s game,” because it’s not; this is hardcore 2D action/platforming at its finest. |
Another rave review for Eternal Night's GameBoy adventure. If you don't have it by now, seriously, go out and get it!
