In Case You Had Any Doubts

Some news from the soon-to-close Sierra Forums courtesy of Legend of Spyro producer Chris Wilson: future Spyro games are in the works at Activision and Mr. Wilson is, sadly, no longer working on the Spyro team.

Thanks again everyone for your support. Discussions are on-going at Activision about what to do next. In the meantime, for those of you that have played it, I really hope you've enjoyed Dawn of the Dragon. Time will tell what happens next :)

Questions for Chris Wilson

Quote:
As for future games, I can't really say too much at this time. What I will share with you is that I am unfortunately no longer going to be working on the Spyro franchise. My reassignment comes with a heavy heart I assure you. This project has been an amazing experience that I will always cherish, but have no fear because Mike (Graham) will carry the torch. I have the utmost faith that the future will be brighter than ever for Spyro.

Thanks again for all of your support over the years. I can't tell you how much it has meant.

Volteer - Not So Chatty

Chris Wilson has been working on Spyro games since 2004 and will be missed by all of us who had a chance to speak with him over the years. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors Chris!

In the meantime, you can all stop worrying about whether there will be any Spyro games in years to come. We have it straight from the source that there will.

Why were there doubts to begin with? We're pretty damn sure that as long as Spyro games sold well they'd continue to be made. The question is, what ARE the publishers going to come up with next? It's no longer a matter of "if" while the series is still selling strong :)

I'm glad this guys been reassigned, he's been nothing but trouble for the Spyro Franchise IMO.

(oops, empty post)

I refuse to admit that. He did RIGHT for the franchise by making it continue with fresh ideas, whether we liked them or not. Had there been no Legend arc, the series would have almost CERTAINLY been axed by now, and this community wouldn't have even come to exist either.

So yeah, Chris and Mike did FINE. And admit it - without the Legend arc, no one would be here :)

I'm with Rexy on this one. You might hate LoS, Ratchet, but you still paid money for the games and that's what's keeping this franchise alive. If not for LoS, Shadow Legacy would have been the last Spyro game and that just would have been a sad end for a good series.

I agree with Razz on this one....
Shadow Legacy was a pretty bad game. >_>
But anyway! I don't think that it's gonna be that much of an upset to not have Wilson on the team anymore.... Hopefully, Etranges Libellules will stay on board and create another, even more powerful, series....

Just remember though that Chris's contribution was as a scenario writer - one of the key components of the creativity process. The team at Etranges Libellules just took his and Michael Graham's ideas and made the game.
But I do agree, they did a good job with Dawn of the Dragon and if they DO stay on for the next game, then I'll be content with it :)

Oh, all this time I knew of his name, but not of his position on the team. haha. Well, hopefully the scenery won't miss him too much. lol. And I guess I wish em luck with whatever else he does!

I just would of preferred someone other than Chris Wilson to work on the franchise.
