Can you handle the heat..?

Those of you who subscribe to the Sierra Insider newsletter may have gotten the latest issue in their inboxes over the last few days, which has a small blurb about Dawn of the Dragon. Although it doesn't really tell us anything new, it's always worth a look to read 'official' pieces of the TLoS canon story:

Quote:
The Legend of Spyro®: Dawn of the Dragon pits our heroic purple dragon against the Dark Master Malefor in an epic final battle that promises to determine the very fate of the Dragon World. To win this fight, Spyro will need to call upon all the power at his disposal. This means fire-power, earth-power, electric-power, ice-power… and girl-power? For the first time in Spyro's history, we get the opportunity to fight the forces of evil as Spyro or his one-time nemesis, the black dragon Cynder, in the form of drop-in/drop-out cooperative play. The game can be completed by either dragon and provides extra thrills in multiplayer cooperation.

Let's take a look into the sordid past of your new ally in the battle against the Dark Master.

Cynder was stolen as an egg and raised under the evil influence of the Dark Master. She was brainwashed into stealing the powers of the great Dragon Guardians and, once infused with their abilities, became a mighty foe. Cynder used these stolen powers to attempt to release the seal that held her Dark Master captive. In the final battle of The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, Spyro was able to defeat Cynder using all his power, freeing her from the influence of Malefor.

At the climax of the second game, The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night, Cynder rises to help Spyro fight the evil Ape King Gaul, who is attempting to free the Dark Master. With her last bit of strength, Cynder frees Spyro from a beam of evil energy generated by the lunar alignment of the Eternal Night. As the beam tears through the mountain surrounding them, Spyro uses dragon magic to seal both himself and his companions in a protective time crystal and await the day when their powers will be needed once again.

The final chapter of the trilogy, The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of The Dragon, takes place three years after Spyro and Cynder's battle with the Ape King. The two dragons awake from the time crystal to find out that the Dark Master has been freed and now spreads his evil across the land like a plague.

Now, Cynder must face the one she used to call "Master" and battle alongside Spyro to ensure Malefor's twisted magic never hurts anyone again. Cynder proves a mighty addition to the forces of good. Take control of her powers over Poison, Wind, Shadow, and Fear to the fight for the freedom of the Dragon World.

One interesting thing to note - people were concerned that the description for the Spyro movie said "Dragon World" in it. Now the game does, too!

Well, it's not as if anyone can come up with a better name for the world that they live in :D
But interestingly, I didn't receive the bulletin but I get the consensus of what's where and all. Let's hope this doesn't somehow be some kind of letdown in the end o_O
