Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon - Say What?!

Gaming news site ToTheGame posted their page for The Legend of Spyro 3. It's just another repeat of the earlier information on Darkest Hour, right? Wrong! It's actually different, so much so it calls the game Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. This looks completely incorrect. Take it with a heart stopping amount of salt, people. Not only is ToTheGame the only site to mention the title as being Dawn of the Dragon, they also list Wayne Brady and Christina Ricci as voice actors. Right...

Quote:
In the culmination of the trilogy, players find Sypro teaming up with an unlikely ally - Cynder, his former enemy, to face his most challenging mission to date. As the Dark Master’s (voiced by Mark Hamill) evil envelopes the world like a plague, Spyro must fulfill his destiny and unlock the true power of the purple dragon within him to stop the Dark Master in his tracks.

* Two elements never before seen in the Spyro universe: fly at any time and drop-in/drop-out co-op, with Cynder. Both characters can complete the game separately as well.
* Cynder being introduced as a strong, female lead alongside Spyro, girl gamers will have something to get excited about!
* Fun combat gameplay with new elemental attack moves/combos, enemies, environments, etc.
* This is the third and final installment of an epic trilogy, giving players a more mature character design and story line since the previous title; The Eternal Night.
* Spyro makes his debut on the PS3! This new venture for the purple dragon onto the next gen console will attract new players who may have not been able to experience the Spyro series previously.
* All-star voice cast including Elijah Wood, Gary Oldman, Blair Underwood, Christina Ricci, Wayne Brady and Mark Hamill

DEVELOPER: Etranges Libellules

Obviously this information has to be wrong. Krome was signed on to do a trilogy with the Legend of Spyro arc. They wouldn't switch developers. Etranges Libellules is an actual developer, based in France, in case you were wondering but even so, Krome is making the next game. This is all very interesting but more than likely not correct.

Unlike Wikipedia where people just post daydreams or misinformation on purpose, I think ToTheGame is supposed to be legitimate...only they have their facts really messed up here. I wonder why that is...

See the page here.

UPDATE: The title has been removed and is now simply called "Legend of Spyro: Not Announced Yet". However, the information about the game remains.

UPDATE 2: The information has now been taken down as well.

Son of a.....

I hate controversy!!!!!!

Thanks for the update, Neal, but I don't believe this for a moment.....I can't understand why there would actually release flase information about an upcoming game whose license belongs to another company all together!

Can't they get into some sort of legal trouble for this????

Accidental misinformation isn't illegal. Even purposeful misinformation isn't illegal. You only get in trouble when that information can hurt the profits of another company. I doubt this will do that.

Hmm... they've also got some information about a new Crash Bandicoot game "Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant" which is also different to the title GameSpot gave out "Crash: Invasion of the Bandicoot Snatchers".

As far as I know, this title sounds a lot better than the corny/potentially-illfated "Darkest Hour" we've had to put up with, but the change of a developer and so many voice actors contributing for the role has made me feel a little suspicious about it. I mean, why would Mark Hamill (whom in terms of his voice acting post-Luke-Skywalker would think a lot about Rok-Ko in The Wrath of Cortex) take over Kevin Michael Richardson when dealing with the Dark Master? That's awkwardness in itself.

I hope that this info doesn't get leeked to Wikipedia. I need to keep my tabs on that.

I don't really see how this information is blatantly wrong. Of course I do take it with a grain of salt, but it doesn't sound at all far-fetched to me. The only odd point is the developer, but I think there is more than one possible explanation for that.

I could have sworn I'd read something about Mark Hamill as the Dark Master before, but I can't remember and I can't find anything about it, so maybe I'm imagining that. I personally hope that part is true, as I really like him in villainous roles. :)

They appear to have spelled Mark Hamil's name wrong, too. inaccurate it may all be, but I admit that I really like the idea of Mark doing the DM's voice. That would be pretty dang awesome.

Okay, so the placement of Mark Hamill doing a villainous role might be ok (though I thought his voice wasn't deep enough to portray the Dark Master), but how are they going to fund the placements for one of Elijah's co-star buddies in Deep Impact, another one from The Ice Storm (AKA Wednesday in the Addams Family films) and a comedian who rarely ever takes interest in films altogether? I still feel skeptical over a good chunk of this info.

Mark Hamill? If this holds true, I have more hope for this game. Joker ftw.

Well, it's gone now....

Glad that's over with....

I can by the "cynder introduced as a strong female character" and the "more mature storyline" but the rest is hogwash..
